Norwood, a former Nashville resident for long years, mother of June, Charles, and Foy Norwood of Valdosta, passed away Monday night at the Barwick home of her grandson, J.N. Barrow, after an illness of long duration. She was 82 years old. Besides the Valdosta sons, she is survived by her husband, J.I. Norwood, Ordinary of Berrien County for a long number of years, another son, Ernest Norwood, of Macon, two sisters, Mrs. R.W. Lanier of Coleman, and Mrs. C.P. Gleaton of Arlington, and a brother, Walter Shaw, of Milford. Funeral services were held at Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Adel Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock, with burial in the church cemetery. Full funeral particulars were not known at time of going to press. Mr. and Mrs. Norwood celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in October of last year. Mrs. Norwood was a native of Brooks County, and before her marriage was Miss Virginia Shaw, with many relatives throughout South Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Norwood moved to Barwick years ago after having resided in Nashville for many years. They were well known and highly regarded here, and have friends who sympathize with the family in their loss. Mrs. Norwood was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
