 Herman Joseph Nugent, 78, of Alapaha, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at his 
residence. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ann Catholic 
Church in Alapaha with burial at the Mount Paron Church Cemetery. Father Al
Alfonso Gutierrez and Deacon J. Brian Bergeron will officiate. The family will ha
have a Rosary service in the St. Ann Catholic Church at 6:30 tonight with vi
visitation following from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.
 Born March 18, 1932 in Atkinson County, Mr. Nugent was the son of the late O
Owen James Nugent Jr. and Wilma Daniel Nugent. He was a member of the St. Ann C
Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Korean Conflict, a
as well as the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was retired from the Georgia Department o
of Transportation as a district engineer and was a member of the NRA. Mr. N
Nugent enjoyed fishing, working outdoors (especially cutting wood), and s
spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in d
death by one son, James Barney Nugent; three grandchildren, Chad and Brandon N
Nugent and Sarah Davis; and three brothers, Kenneth Nugent, Charles Nugent and J
Jimmy Nugent.
 Survivors include his wife, Nell Solomon Nugent of Alapaha; his children, Rose 
N. Spurlock (Dick) of Alapaha, Regina Nugent Clark of Albany, Sheila Nugent of
Alapaha
Alapaha, Herman Joseph “Joe” Nugent (Tracy) of Alapaha, Angela N. Dowdy of 
Nashville, Rachel N. Davis (Michael) of Alapaha, Wilma N. Carter of Alapaha, 
Patricia N. White of Alapaha, John Wayne Nugent (Reagan) of Alapaha, Jack M. 
Nugent of Alapaha, and Jason P. Nugent (Mary) of Alapaha; his siblings, David 
Nugent (Jean) of Alapaha, Louise N. Reese (Bob) of Marietta, and Judy N. 
Griffin (Eddie) of Albany; his sisters-in-law, Annette Nugent of Douglasville 
and Ella Mae Nugent of Alapaha; 33 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and s
several nieces and nephews.
