A native of Berrien County, he had resided in Albany for the past 28 years, moving there from Hattiesburg, MS. He graduated from Berrien High School in 1957 and also from Jacksonville University. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Hope Lumber Co. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class. He was a volunteer at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and was on the Volunteer Advisory Board. Survivors include his wife, Annette Odom of Albany; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Greg Rogers of Albany; a grandson, Tyler Rogers of Jackson; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Hazel Hall and Jeanette Brogdon, both of Nashville, Melba and Ken Vormelker of Painesville, OH, Mildred and Fred Schlicht of Jacksonville, Evelyn Singleton of Mableton, Margie and Carlton Brown of Jasper, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Rayford and Hazel Odom of Nashville. Funeral services were held Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Gresham officiating. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mathews Funeral Home of Albany was in charge of arrangements.
