O'Steen, 85, of 316 Nelson Rd., died Wednesday in the Memorial Hospital of Adel after a lengthy illness. She was born in Lanier County and had lived in Lenox for many years. She was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist CHurch and the widow of B. C. O'Steen who died Oct. 14, 1991. She is survived by two daughters, Mattie Jean Griffin, West Berrien Community; Maxine Carter, Lenox; son, Elbert O'Steen, Valdosta; two sisters, Nellie Easters, Lake Park; Audrey Burns, Macon; two Brothers, James Astles, Bemiss; Thomas A. Astles, Miller, Mo: eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce O'Steen. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Roberts, the Rev. Jimmie Hinson and the Rev. John Hendley officiating. Burial will be in the Empire Cemetery in Lanier Co. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
