Born March 2, 1922 in Fletcher, North Carolina, to the late William Filburn and Nola Ann Nix Rhodes, she was a homemaker and charter member of Alapaha Baptist Church. She was married to the late Troy Everett Owen who died January 10, 2000. Survivors include one daughter, Maerita (Ronnie) Adams of Valdosta; two sons, Eddie (Bonnie) Owen and Ted (Judy Player) Owen of Alapaha; one brother, Joe Rhodes of Fletcher; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rufus and Marion Owen of Troy, NC; seven grandchildren, Chuck Adams, Andy Owen, James and Kerri Owen Lindsey, Jason Owen, Beth Rybin, J.D. and Kerri Owen Dean, Shane Owen; six great-grandchildren, Adrain Owen, Jordan Lindsey, Max Lindsey, Savannah Owen, Katie Lindsey, John Laurent Dean; on special son, Otto Brown of Willacoochee; caregivers, Sharon Harris and Kay Bruner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Callie Cunningham, and a brother, Lloyd George Rhodes. Funeral services were held September 10 at 3 p.m. at Alapaha Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Gibbs and Kenneth Kicklighter officiating, "Just One Rose Will Do' was played. The church choir sang "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Interment was in Fletcher Cemetery. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
