Sanders, Jr., 90, died Friday at Smith Hospital in Hahira after a long illness. He was a native of Berrien County and had spent most of his life here. The deceased was a farmer and was a member of Beulah Holiness Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle S. Brooker of Nashville, GA; Mrs. Marjorie Arnold of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, L.J. Sanders of Quincy, FL, and Floyd L. Sanders of Valdosta, GA; one sister, Mrs. Eva Mae Walker of Odessa, FL; 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Empire Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Fred Hesters and Elder Howard Weaver officiated. Primitive hymns were sung by the congregation. Lovein Funeral Home handled arrangements. Active pallbearers were: T.J. Futch, Curtis Chitly, Glenn Sanders, L.J. Hughes, Aulie Gaskins and Early Gaskins. Additional Comments: Based on The Berrien Press obit, S.G. "Berry" Sanders, Jr., died Sept. 2, 1966; however, the Social Security Death Index lists him as being born Sept. 26, 1875 and dying Sept. 15, 1966. He was preceded in death by his wife Olive Elizabeth Gaskins and his parents Samuel Greenberry Sanders Sr. and Nancy Smith, all of Georgia.
