Dixon Succumbs To Heart Disease The sympathy of Taylor County friends is extended to Mrs. J.E. Locke and Mrs. W.C. Cosey in the death of their brother, Rev. H.S. Dixon, pastor of the Methodist Church at Sparks, Ga. Mr. Dixon’s death came unexpectedly and a great shock to his relatives and friends. Adding to their grief is the loss to Mrs. Locke and Mrs. Cosey of their father and three brothers who have died successively, only a few months intervening each death. Both ladies attended the funeral at Sparks returning home Thursday. The Butler Herald Tuesday, October 8, 1912 Page Five In Memory of My Brother, Rev. H.S. Dixon He was born May 13, 1858 and died Sept. 24, 1912. The above dates are landmarks by footsteps of an humble, honorable and consecrated Christian man whose life was as others, having toils, snares, trials and temptations in this life, but thanks be to Him, giver and maker of all things, my brother’s faith in God was sufficient for him to say, just before leaving this old world: “It is good to be ready.” His life was such that all who knew him never doubted him; to meet with him was to love him and know he was a consecrated Christian. “He was a Christian and a good man has gone to the realms of glory,” was on the lips of everyone who heard of his death, which took place at his home at Sparks, Ga., at 2 o’clock a.m., Tuesday Sept. 24, 1912, caused from failure. As a husband he was kind and affectionate, provided well for his family of this world’s goods; as a father he was indulgent and walked in his daily life for it to be good to follow in his footsteps. O, it is so hard to give him up, never to hear his voice again, or see the sweet, radiant smile. To hear him talk was to know he was a man of God; “God’s will be done, not mine.” But it does seem doubly hard on me for this is the second brother that has been called to his reward in four months and twenty-four days. I know God knows best and we must surrender all to Him. Brother leaves a wife and seven children to mourn their loss, besides one brother and six sisters. I feel that the ties of Heaven are dearer to me, having a mother, father, one sister and four brothers gone before. His loving sister, Mrs. J.E. Locke Card of Thanks Mr. Editor: I wish to thank the good people, thru the columns of your paper, for their kind words, sympathy and prayers for me in this sad hour, in the loss of my brother, Rev. H.S. Dixon, at Sparks, Ga. May God bless each and everyone is my prayer. Mrs. J.E. Locke This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 3.1 Kb
