NASHVILLE – Arlie Parker Jr., 72 of Nashville, died on Wednesday, April 25, 
2001, at his residence.  He was born on Aug. 20, 1928, in Berrien County to 
Arlie and Mary Jane Nash Parker.  
For many years he owned and operated City Cleaners and Laundry.  He recently 
had operated Parker’s Executive Laundry until ill health forced his 
retirement.  He had served the city of Nashville as a councilman and was a 
member of the fire department for 35 years serving as Assistant Chief and Fire 
Marshal.  He was also a retired school bus driver and a member of Nashville 
First Baptist Church.  One of his favorite past times was handing out candy 
and bubble gum to the children on his laundry routes.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Drawdy Parker of Nashville; sons, Wesley 
Parker and Arlie “Skeeter” Parker III, both of Nashville; daughter, Kay 
Frasier of Nashville; stepdaughters, Pam Prentice, Jan Robinson, both of 
Tifton, Kim Etheredge of Albany; sister, Ruth Evelyn Kent of Nashville; 
grandchildren, Chase and Jennifer Parker and Todd Frasier; numerous 
stepgrandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Parker, who 
died in 1995.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Lovein Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Jackie Connell and the Rev. Junior Swain and Mr. A.T. 
Bragdon officiating.  Burial will be held in Westview Cemetery.  Visitation 
will be held after 2 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 
pm. – Lovein Funeral Home
