Born January 29, 1923 in Cook County to the late Albert and Annie Mae Murphy Parrish, he was a retired auto body technician and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was married to the late Margaret Harrell Parrish. Survivors include two daughters, Liz Nix of Nashville and Betty Sue Burgess of Tifton; one son, Larry Parrish of Alapaha; one brother, Enoch Parrish of Moultrie; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 15 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Pickern and Willie Heath officiating. Debbie Tyson sang "Beulah Land," and Steve Davis sang "Wish You Were Here" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Interment was in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were W.A. Parrish, Norman Parrish, Wayne Hughes, Robert Smith, Wayne McGee, Leroy Griffin, Wendell Spells. Honorary pallbearers were Dave Gallman, Jimmy Fulp, Paul Newbern, Gary Cooksey, Guy Martin.
