Death was attributed to a heart attack brought on by excitement incident to recover oars to the boat in which he and boy friend had been rowing. Passmore’s body was recovered quickly and first aid measures applied. The efforts at resuscitation developed the fact that there was no water in the lungs of the accident victim. This, together with the information furnished by his hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Buckingham Miller, of Glenwood to the effect, led to the conclusion that death was due to a heart attack rather than to drowning. The accident occurred about five o’clock Sunday afternoon. Passmore and his friend had been rowing on the river for some time when they lost their oars overboard. Both young men plunged into the river after the oars, the young Georgian apparently being stricken immediately with a heart attack. Passmore had been married but one month. He and his bride had been on a honeymoon visit for the last two weeks as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Miller. His widow, who was at the scene at the time, is grief-stricken. The young man was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Passmore, of Nashville. ***** The above is a press dispatch sent to all of the daily papers and so far as could be learned is just about correct. The boy friend referred to was B.C. Yopp, son of Mrs. Frank Yopp also of this city. Young Yopp was nearly drowned himself in an effort to save the deceased and was also subjected to treatment. The body was brought to Nashville Monday from Florida by hearse, and carried to the home of Mrs. Frank Yopp. Funeral services were held at the Yopp home, being conducted by Rev. Joe Brown Nix, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives. Interment followed in the Nashville cemetery at 3 o’clock. Those surviving are: His widow, a bride of about a month, who was formerly Miss Mildred Dampier, one sister, Miss Mary Alice Passmore, and his father, Mr. J.Q. Passmore, both of Nashville.
