She was born on July 9, 1921 in Berrien County to the late Edwin Harrison and Kathryn Ann Moore Brown. She was a homemaker and devoted, lifelong member of Nashville United Methodist Church serving her church and community in numerous ways. She is the widow of James Henning “Jim” Perry and was preceded in death by her son, James Edmund “Jimmy” Perry, and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Harold E. and Ruby Smith Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Perry Bumgardner, and husband, Dr. John O. Bumgardner of Dill, SC; daughter-in-law, Mary Smoak Perry of Valdosta; grandchildren, Mark Perry and wife, Paige, and Julie Cowart and husband, Hunter, of Atlanta; Salley Payne Bumgardner of Dillon, SC, and Wen Bumgardner of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, Tripp Perry, Medley Perry, Harrison Hopkins and Hansen Cowart; beloved sister-in-law, Mary Erneste Houston, and many beloved nieces and nephews and family. Funeral services were held July 11 at 2 p.m. at Nashville United Methodist Church with Dr. John Bumgardner and Rev. Tom Tippett officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery with her great nephews serving as pallbearers. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
