He was born October 17, 1929 in Irwin County to the late James Andrew and Rosalee Hogan Peters. He was a retired Chief of Police in Sparks. He was also a police officer in Tifton and a deputy with Tift County having serving 31 years in law enforcement. He was a member of the Honorary Chief of Police Association. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Williams Peters. He is survived by his wife, Betty Luke Peters of Nashville; three daughters, Norma Peters Childree of Reynolds, Grace Peters Taylor of Perry, and Stephanie Peters Warren of Adel; six grandchildren, Chris Warner, Shane Bennett, Jessica Warner, Kaine Bennett, Tate Bennett, and Wendy Thompson; several great-grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held November 23 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Mickey Lindsey and Ted Graham officiating. Interment followed in Flat Creek Cemetery.
