Born January 25, 1929 in Opp, AL to the late Calvin Hardy and Isabell Williams Carnley Carnley, she was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Ray City. Survivors include her husband, James Richard Phillips of Ray City; daughters, Janie Belinda Nitz of Warner Robins, Neda Gay Hon of Ray City, Sherry Lynn Peake of Knoxville, TN; sons, James Richard Phillips, Jr. of Navarre, FL and Joey T. Phillips of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Hearld Carnley of DeFuniak Springs, FL and Donald Carnley of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 15 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Ray City with the Rev. Robbie Peavy officiating. Mamie Stalvey sang “Amazing Grace,” “Just As I Am,” “There’s Something About That Name,” and “How Great Thou Art,” accompanied by Nell Daniel. Interment followed at Beaver Dam Cemetery. Selected family members served as pallbearers. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
