Pittman, the son of P.L. Pittman of Nashville, was born and reared in Berrien County. In 1940 he was married to Lena Lucille Parrish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Parrish of Nashville. The deceased was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army about two years ago after serving overseas. At the time of this death he had been under treatment at the Veterans Hospital, Lake City, Fla. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Church Sunday afternoon at four o’clock. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Shephard of Pavo, Rev. Herndon of Ray City, and Elders L.A. Hancock and L.L. Register of Nashville conducted the services. A trio composed of N.H. Harper, Frank Griffin, and Mrs. Merle Connell sang “Death is Only a Dream,” “Gathering Buds,” “When They Ring Those Golden Bells,” and “Happy Angel’s Band.” R.H. Watson, J.B. Boyett, J.W. Richardson, Weston Myers, M.B. Parrish, and John B. Parrish acted as pall-bearers. Besides the wife survivors include one daughter, Linda, aged two; the father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. P.L. Pittman of Nashville; three brothers, Thomas Lee Pittman of Jacksonville, Fla., Howard Pittman of the U.S. Navy, and Johnny Pittman of Nashville; two grandmothers, Mrs. W.B. Fountain of Nashville and Mrs. J.F. Whitney of Valdosta; one half-sister, Glenda Maye Pittman of Nashville; two step-brothers, Fred Williams of the U.S. Navy, and Cyril Williams of Nashville; and one step-sister, Mrs. Henry Allen Barrett of Nashville.
