Pittman Died Suddenly Passed Away Suddenly at Home Place South of Nashville A pall of sorrow was cast over Berrien County Tuesday morning when it was learned that Mrs. Perry L. Pittman passed away suddenly at her home twelve miles south of here. She was ill only a few minutes from what physicians explained as heart trouble. Death occurred at 9:30 o’clock. The deceased who was 32 years of age was a Miss Annie Fountain before her marriage to Mr. Pittman on July 25, 1922. She was born and reared in Berrien County and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Mrs. Pittman will be greatly missed in this section as she was regarded as one of the county’s best and most competent teachers, having taught in the schools of Berrien County about eight years. Mrs. Pittman was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She was highly esteemed for her congenial disposition and high traits of character. All who knew here are greatly saddened at her passing, realizing that her place will be hard to fill. The Herald sympathizes deeply with the husband and other relatives at her untimely passing. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock at Pleasant Church by Elder J.B. Luke of Nashville and Elder M.T. Shephard of Fitzgerald, in the presence of hundreds of sorrowing friends and relatives. Interment was in the Pleasant Cemetery. The Giddens Funeral Home of Nashville had charge of funeral arrangements. The pall-bearers were Berrien County legionnaires, as Mr. Pittman is a member of Otranto Post, and were as follows: Noble A. Hull, Earlie Steward, J.R. Bennett, O.E. Futch, R.H. Watson, and M.A. Dickson. Surviving are the husband and four sons, Arthur, Thomas Lee, Howard, and John Wesley Pittman; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Fountain; four brothers and two sisters, C.W.
