Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Purvis Cemetery in Berrien County with the Rev. Huey Nichols officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the funeral home. Born Jan. 17, 1921, in Berrien County, Mr. Purvis was the son of the late Elbert and Janie Sirmans Purvis. He was a retired carpenter and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had lived in Fitzgerald since 1980. Mr. Purvis was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5250 in Tifton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Wilson Purvis; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Diane Arnold of Moultrie; two grandchildren, Clarence Edward Arnold and Tammy Arnold Griffin; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Curtis R. Purvis of Tifton; and a sister, Malone Connor of Tifton. Paulk Funeral Home of Fitzgerald is in charge of arrangements.
