She was born on April 17, 1921 in Irwin County to the late James Wilbert and Martha Hunter McMillan. She was a homemaker and member of New Griffin Baptist Church. She was the widow of Talmadge Purvis, who died in 2005. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and the Rev. Raymond Mixon of Callahan, FL; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Gerald and Irene Purvis of Tifton; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Jan. 25 at 3 p.m. at New Griffin Baptist Church with the Revs. Gerald Purvis, Raymond Mixon and Pete Jones officiating. The church choir sang "He'll Hold To My Hand," accompanied by Latrelle Heath, pianist. Granddaughters sang "He's More Wonderful" and "Thank You for Giving to the Lord." Interment was in Brogdon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Caleb Thornton, Austin Johnson, Derek Johnson, Cameron Self, Collin Self, Hunter Torres, Seth Torres.
