 Derwin Purvis, 47, of Gladys died August 21, 2005 at his residence.

 Born August 3, 1958 in Berrien County to Herman and  Mae Ruth Paulk Purvis of 
Gladys, he was owner/operator of Metal F-X Manufacturing in Gladys. He was a 
charter member of South Georgia Beagle Club and a member of Old English Bantam 
Club.

 Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Bonnie Nugent Purvis 
of Gladys; son, Travis Purvis of Gladys; daughter, Liz Purvis of Athens; 
paternal grandmother, Inez Whitley of Gladys; three brothers, Herman Purvis, 
Jr., Brad Purvis, Chance Purvis, all of Gladys.

 Funeral services were held August 24 at 10 a.m. at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel 
in Fitzgerald with Rev. George Paulk and Father Alfonsa Gutierrez officiating.

 Interment was in Riverbend Cemetery in Irwin County.

 Paulk Funeral Home of Fitzgerald was in charge of arrangements.
