He was born Dec. 4, 1961 in Tift County to Barbara Spikes and the late H.D. Purvis. He helped start, was a very valued and loved family member of the Dixon Farm Supply and Gin. He attended Alapaha Baptist Church. He is survived by his son Clay (Jennifer Lynn McDaniel) Purvis of Tifton; daughter, Kayla Purvis, Alapaha; mother, Barbara Purvis, Alapaha; sisters, Rhonda (Steve) Dixon, Alapaha, Traci DeBoyd, all of Alapaha; brother, Michael (Betsy) Purvis, Alapaha; mother of his children, Pam Purvis, Alapaha; special friend, Regina Hughes and Turner, Nashville. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today, Feb. 16, 2010 at Alapaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Mi Mike Gibbs and Mr. Don Williams officiating. Songs by Jake Ford and Joel Dixon in included "Beulah Land" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Interment will be held in Glory Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Carl Mathis Dixon, Quentin Dixon, Jake Purvis, John Daniel Moore, Jimmy Nash, Scentry Dorsey, Mike Rogers, Austin DeBoyd, Alex DeBoyd DeBoyd. Honorary pallbearers were Craig Carver, Ronald Metts, Richard Tucker, Jr., Mike Baker, Wycliffe Vance, Breman Griner, Chris Goodman, Mike Tucker, Mark T Tucker, Wayne Nash.
