L.A. Hancock who has recently moved from Cook County to Berrien, near Enigma, was in Adel Saturday and while here told of three deaths in one family in that community, all from influenza and pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Purvis, who had been living in Cook County, were visiting the family of Mr. William Purvis, father of Mr. Jesse Purvis and while there his wife and three children were stricken with the disease. A little son died on Sunday, the 13th, and a little daughter died on the following Monday and on Wednesday Mrs. Purvis died. Funeral services were held for all three at the Vickers cemetery Thursday, Rev. Hancock conducting the unusual and pathetic service. Mrs. Purvis was a niece of Messrs. Dan, Irving and Henry Hayes, of this county. Many friends sympathize tenderly with the husband and other relatives in their great sorrow. Another child, the baby of the family was not expected to live when Rev. Hancock was here. The little boys was about seven and the little girl about nine years of age. – Adel News.
