I.C.G. Rabun Goes to His Reward Died in Macon Last Tuesday; Interment in Danville Cemetery. Many of our readers will be saddened to hear of the death of Rev. I.C.G. Rabun who departed this life in Macon on last Thursday and is now enjoying the fruits of his labor. His remains lie at rest in the Danville Twiggs County cemetery, the interment taking place last Friday. Up to a few years ago, he and his beloved wife lived on their farm near Nashville and were well known and much beloved by our citizens. Though looking after his farm in his superannuated days, he was always ready to preach and his sermons were much in demand. He spent the strength of his manhood in the ministry, being a member of the South Georgia Methodist Conference; part of his life was given to looking after the children of the orphanage in Macon. His labors as a preacher were signally blessed of God and all over South Georgia he leaves to revere his memory, many spiritual children. He was orthodox to the core, the actual word of God being the man of his counsel. He ably defended the faith of the fathers, not tolerating for a moment modernism, evolution, or higher criticism that in these later days have crept into the pulpit and are pulling down the bulwarks of the church. He was a sermon builder to a nicety having Bible doctrines always as a foundation. Yet, he did not rest on the strength of the truth alone, but was deeply conscious of the compelling need of the Holy Spirit in all his discourses. Hence he prayed much therefore when he got in the pulpit the hearts of his hearers were touched and strangely moved upon as well as their heads being informed in the way of life. His relatives and friends are not mourning as those who have no hope. They know where to find him.
