He was born in Berrien County to the late Bige and Essie Mae Rogers Ray. He was in the construction business and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Bemiss Road Baptist Church in Valdosta. Survivors include one son, Richard Ray of Tampa, FL; one daughter, Donna Ray of Tampa; sisters, Virginia Dales of Ray City, Betty Summerlin of Nashville; brothers, Eddie Ray and William Ray, both of Hilliard, FL; six grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton Ray and Jimmy Ray. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 23 at Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Dr. Danny Edwards officiating. Interment was in Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
