The Berrien Press -- Melba Ray, 66, of Nashville died December 2, 2007 at her 
residence. 
 Born May 29, 1941 in Berrien County to the late Clifton and Rosa Fender 
Heath, she was a homemaker and cosmetologist. She was a member of New Griffin 
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Lynn Ray, who 
died in 1977, and two brothers, William Heath and Clifton Heath.
 Survivors include her husband, Gerald Wayne Ray of Nashville; one son and 
daughter-in-law, Brian and Allison Ray of Alapaha; three sisters, Mary Griner 
and Linda Hall, both of Alapaha, Jean Strickland of Jacksonville, FL; four 
brothers, Thomas Heath and Elwood Heath, both of Alapaha, Johnny Heath of Ray 
City, Elton Heath of Maynard, IA; one granddaughter, Avery Lillian Ray.
 Funeral services were held December 5 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein 
Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayne McCrimmon, Willie Heath and Sim Youngblood 
officiating. CD music included "Wildwood Church," "Amazing Grace," "I'll Fly 
Away," and "When the Roll is Called up Yonder."
 Interment was in Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County.
 Active pallbearers were Keith Quarles, Michael Heath, Stephen Ray, Bill 
Griner, David Heath, Steve Heath, Alan Ray, Andy Heath.
 Honorary pallbearers were Johniette Sizemore, Emily Fulp, Sherry Moore, Doris 
Booth, Joy Roberts, Bonnie Clark, Martha Griffis, Darlene Dillingham.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
