Born April 22, 1930 in Berrien County to the late Bige and Essie Rogers Ray, he was a retired electric linesman with the City of Adel and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was of the Baptist faith and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Merelyne Walker Ray of Nashville; daughter, Becky Sain of Nashville; two sons, Rusty Ray of Portland, OR and David Ray of Adel; two sisters, Virginia Dales of Valdosta and Betty Summerlin of Nashville; four brothers, Jimmy Ray of Nashville, Virgil Ray of Valdosta, William Ray and Eddie Ray both of Hilliard, FL; four grandchildren. A graveside service was held March 28 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Cemetery with the Revs. James Cagle and Chris Newbern officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Paluszewski, Phillip Akins, Parrish Akins, Dewayne Dales, Travis Brown, Tommy McLain. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
