She was born December 21, 1926, in Lanier County to the late Joseph Candler and Nancy Richardson Pierce. She was a homemaker, served as the corporate secretary for Howard Ray Construction Co. and was the former general manager of the King of the Road Valdosta Best Western. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Ray City. She was preceded in death by five brothers, J.C. Pierce, Dilmus Pierce, Wilmont Pierce, Billy Pierce and McDonald Pierce; sister, Beatrice Everett. She is survived by her husband, Howard E. Ray of Nashville; three sons, Gregg (Lora) Ray of Nashville, Clinton (Betty Ray of Nashville of Nashville and Mitch (Judith) Ray of Valdosta; sister, Jessie Hudson of Valdosta; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ray City with the Rev. Robbie Peavy and Rev. Bob Pierce officiating. Interment was in Beaver Dam Cemetery.
