He was born March 29, 1917, in Thomas County to J. T. Redding and Clyde Jones. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, he was retired from the state highway department. He is survived by his spouse, Evelyn Denby Redding of Nashville; two daughters, Brenda Dubose of Alapaha and Linda Kay Parrish of Chaserville; three sons, Franklin Redding of Nashville, Charlie Redding of Albany and Johnny Lee Redding of Sparks; two sisters, Effie Gay of Norman Park and Ola Mae Barber of Tifton; two brothers, Walter Lee Redding of Fayetteville, NC and Terrell Redding of Atlanta; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hope Baptist Church with interment at Westview Cemetery. The Rev. Dean Spivey and the Rev. Jack Smithwick will officiate. The body will be carried to the residence of Franklin Redding on West Avera St. in Nashville.
