  Ira G. Register, 84, of Nashville died December 29, 2008 at the home of his 
daughter in Orange Park, FL.
  Born May 15, 1924 in Polk County, FL to the late Abram and Roenia Fountain 
Register, he was a Quality Control Inspector for the Federal Government. He was 
a member of Ray City United Methodist Church and served four years in the Navy 
during World War II.
  Survivors include his wife, Nadine M. Register of Nashville; daughter and son 
in law, Karen and Bill Wheless of Orange Park; FL; grandson and granddaughter 
in law, Brian and Robin Wheless; great-granddaughter, Sasha Wheless; two 
sisters, Lilla Register of Vero Beach, FL and Dorothy Harrell of Watchulla, FL; 
brother, A.B. Register of Lakeland, a number of nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on December 31 in the Lakeland Chapel of 
Music Funeral Services with Rev. Wayne Mitchell and Rev. Samuel Jewell 
officiating. Three of his nieces, Amy Pope, Angela Osborne and Allison Pope, 
sang "He Hideth My Soul." Rev. and Mrs. Sam Jewell sang "Surely Goodness and 
Mercy."
  Interment was in Empire Cemetery.
  Active pallbearers were Jim Pope, David Pope, Jerry Osborne, Reid Pope, Bob 
Rousseau, Bud Ray.
  Honorary pallbearers were Fred Carter, Harry Cornelius, Junior (Shelly) 
Cornelius, Billy Creech, Louis Fountain, Eldridge Fountain, Buddy Purvis, Homer 
Spells, Ray Register, Wayne Peters, Ron Register, Ian Burgin, Doyle Lightsey.
  Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
