Rice, 87, of Seffner, FL died January 10, 2004. Born April 1, 1916 in Cook County, he served in the European Theater during WWII and was a member of the 95 Infantry Division Association. He was charter member, chairman of the Deacon Board, and executive member of the Board of Trustees at First Free Will Baptist Church. He was past executive board member of Florida State Free Will Baptist Association, secretary/treasurer of Central Florida Free Will Baptist Association, and a 67-year member of Woodman of the World. He was a retired bridge builder and crew foreman with Cone Brother's Construction. Survivors include his wife, Vida Mae Richardson Rice of Seffner; three daughters, Janice Daush of Brandon, FL, Annette Burns of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Patsy Edwards of Thonotosassa, FL; one son, Wendell F. Rice of Tampa, FL; three brothers, Lankford Rice of Durant, Harvey Rice and Vernon Rice both of Nashville; one sister, Agnes Taylor of Nashville; ten grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held January 14 at 1 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church in Seffner with the Revs. Roger Duncan, Lloyd Locklear and Jack Lassiter officiating. Interment was in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa. Active pallbearers were Danny Edwards, Billy Rice, Jack Sizemore, Jr., Steve Johnson, Frank Rice, Robert Newton. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Carlton, Jimmy Aldrich, Bill Burgess, Eric Stevens, Charlie Elliott, Andy Weaver, Jim Dunlap, Bob Larkin, Alan Andrews, Calvin Bumgardner, Ron Portivent, Albert Pope, Ron Duncan, Danny Richardson, Ralph Worthington, Bill Blanchard.
