 Verdie Belle Rice, 89, of Nashville died July 28, 2006 at Tift Health Care.
  Born March 23, 1917 in Berrien County to the late William Evant and Effie 
Jane McNabb Clanton, she was a homemaker and member of Forest Hill Freewill 
Baptist Church.
 Survivors include her husband, Harvey Rice of Nashville; sisters, Mamie Hewitt 
and Thelma Griner, both of Nashville; numerous nieces and nephews. She was 
preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Langley, and six brothers, Clarence 
Clanton, Floyd Clanton, Daniel Clanton, G.H. Clanton, William "Duck" Clanton, 
Gene Clanton.
 Funeral services were held July 30 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral 
Home with the Revs. Mitchell Deems and Carl Morrison officiating.
 Interment was in Nashville Memorial Gardens.
 Pallbearers were Greg Clanton, Sonny Griner, Billy Crowley, Eugene Baldree, 
Wayne Giddens, Larry Clanton.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
