Riel, 80, of Marengo, Ohio died August 31, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Wooster, Ohio. Born in Berrien County on October 12, 1923 to the late David J. and Nettie Akridge Skinner, she graduated from Ray City High School, South Georgia College, and received her B.S. in Education from Ohio University and an M.S. in Education Administration from Ohio University. She began her teaching career in Berrien County. She was past state president of the Business and Professional Women of Ohio, past president of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women, past vice-president of the National Federation of Republican Women, and an active member of First Baptist Church. She was married to the late Raymond "Red" Riel. Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Grissinger of Wooster, OH; three brothers, Albert Skinner of Aiken, SC, Charlie Skinner of Cairo and George Skinner of Ray City; two sisters, Kathleen Hendley of Nashville and Eloise Nash of Lilburn; two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Mount Gilead with Dr. Dennis Schultz officiating. Interment was in Marengo Cemetery. Snyder Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead was in charge of arrangements.
