He was born in Berrien County on July 27, 1937 to the late James and Emma Lewis Rogers. He was retired from Levi Strauss and was a member of New Fellowship Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Wyre Rogers, who died in 2003. He is survived by two daughters, Donna Carol Thomasson, Nashville and Denise Houck, Piedmont, AL; a stepdaughter, Donna Lynn Holland, Hahira; son, Donny Rogers, Piedmont; three sisters, Dot Mathis, Marie Holbrook and Helen Davis, all of Nashville; four grandchildren, Mitchell Rogers, Jake Thomasson, Nikke Combs and Karlee Combs; four step-granddaughters, Ashley and Amber Houck and Kiley and Kendall Holland. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. February 5 in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Luke officiating. Musical selections played on CD included "Arms of an Angel," "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and "Amazing Grace." Interment was in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Tyler, Johnny Holbrook, Eddie Holbrook, Fred Holbrook, Elton Taylor, Charles Tomlinson. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
