Born May 10, 1911 in Perry to the late Sue Wellons and Samuel Gordon Rogers, Sr., he was a retired pharmacist and member of Richmond Hill United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Holland Rogers. Survivors include his wife, Lushia Lain Rogers of Richmond Hill; one son, Rev. Sam G. Rogers, III, of Tifton; two sisters, Sue Rodgers and Kathryn Wade; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. at Tifton First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jerry Lilliard, Sam Rogers, III, Jenny Jackson-Adams, and Steve Meguir officiating. Interment was in Old City Cemetery, Nashville. Pallbearers were Talmadge Webb, Frank McGill, Bo Miller, Dr. Robert Coleman, Dr. Hal Henderson, Harry Barrineau, Orville Ferrell.
