Born January 5, 1917 in Berrien County to the late George and Martha Price Roland, he was a retired farmer and former co-owner of Hodges-Roland Farm Supply. He was of the Baptist faith. He was married to the late Ora Mae Roland and the late Minnie Lee Rowan Roland. Survivors include three daughters, Laverne Putnal of Sparks, Louve Pafford of Nashville, Ora Lee Thornton of Monroe; one son, Raymond Roland of Nashville; four sisters, Mattie Bell Rogers of West Berrien, Catherine Harper of Nashville, Maudell Rouse of Valdosta, Loudell Begolyer of Leesburg, FL; ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held October 27 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Junior Swain and Mickey Lindsey officiating. Jack and Betty Joiner provided selected music. Interment was in Long Bridge Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Kenny Roland, Tommy Purvis, Wayne Putnal, Breman Rudeseal, Brian Rudeseal, Phillip Purvis. Honorary pallbearers were J.A. Rowan, Jr., Leroy Harper, Perry Jones, L.E. Watson, III, Jimmy Parker, Bobby Kent, Marvin McCorvey, James Tyson, Rudolph Cornelius, Maurice Burnsed, Clint Scruggs, Rev. Fred Hesters and nurses from Georgia Home Health Care. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
