Born November 24, 1923 in Nashville to the late Reuben and Polly Taylor M Mathis, she was a sectionizer for 19 years for Ben Hill Griffin Cannery of B Bartow. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by one sister. L Louise Ray Rawson of Bowling Green, FL; three brothers, Aubrey Mathis and L Lankford Mathis, both of Nashville and J. R. Mathis of Winter Park, FL. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Walton Roland of Homeland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Eloise and Charlie Sirois of Lakeland, Janice and James Ralph Farris of Bartow, Judy Howard and Rob Henson of Alturas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel Lee and Bill Root of Wadsworth, OH, Norma Hall and Charlie Watts of Reynolds, Vivian and Abdul Merchant of Marietta; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, L.B. and Doris Mathis of Homeland, Wendell Mathis of Rome, Onest and Francis Mathis of Stockbridge, Talmadge and Bonny Mathis of Winter Springs, FL, Virgil and Mary Mathis of Nashville; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 6 at 2 p.m. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home i in Bartow, FL. Whidden-McLean Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
