"Dub" Rowan, 94, of Nashville, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie B. Rowan officiating. Shirley Rowan played "Amazing Grace" and Willie B. Rowan sang "New Grace." Entombment will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Gardens Cloister Mausoleum in Jacksonville, Fla. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville. Mr. Rowan was born Dec. 9, 1915 in Berrien County to the late Thomas Morgan Rowan and Rosa Hall. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Clyde Murray Rowan and Carrie Lee Sutton Rowan; and a son, James Lamar Rowan. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 512 for over 40 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Rowan is survived by his sons, Willie B. Rowan of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Charles Emory Rowan of Enigma; daughter, Betty Holcomb of McClenny, Fla.; brothers, Earnest Rowan of Jacksonville, Fla., Bobby Rowan of Warner Robins and Jackie Rowan of Valdosta; sisters, Elma Taylor of Nashville and Betty Padgett of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and four great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
