Born October 4, 1924, in Berrien County to the late Johnny and Angie Swain Fender, she was a homemaker and member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Frank Scussell. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, John Alvin Rowe; seven sisters, Versie Lewis, Ludell Hughes, Ola Easters, Bennie Lee Kelly, Ruby Taylor, Alda Mae Collins, Elouise Register; four brothers, B.A. Warren, Wallace Fender, Heyward Fender, Howard Fender. Funeral services were held April 17 at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Junior Swain and Mark Swain officiating. Jo Beth Hand, Joyce Warren, Rev. J.W. Dukes, III accompanied by Carolyn Jean Kirkland sang "What Will I Leaver Behind?" "Last Mile of the Way," and "I Want Us To Be Together in Heaven." Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ennis Fender, Steve Register, Ken Register, Ronnie Hughes, Wayne Warren, Jerry Mathis, Gary Hand, Dale Hand. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
