  James Madison Shivers, 80, of Nashville died November 3, 2008 at his 
residence.
  Born September 21, 1928 in Colquitt County to the late Frank and Sally 
Dorminey Shivers, he served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Air 
Force. He was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church.
  Survivors include his wife, Clara Weeks Shivers of Nashville; three daughters 
and one son in law, Charlene Futch of Valdosta, Connie and Marvin Murphy and 
Elisa Shivers all of Nashville; four brothers, George Shivers of North 
Carolina, Joseph Shivers of West Pal Beach, FL, Carroll Shivers of South 
Carolina, Ronnie Shivers of Perry; two sisters, Margaret Woods of Tifton, Jean 
Golden of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Robin Alfred, Carrie Futch, 
Howard Futch, Adam Murphy, Mathew Dampier, four great-grandchildren. He was 
preceded in death by a brother, Billy Shivers and a grandson, Josh Murphy.
  The family honored his request to be cremated; and no formal service was held.
  Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
