Born September 21, 1928 in Colquitt County to the late Frank and Sally Dorminey Shivers, he served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Clara Weeks Shivers of Nashville; three daughters and one son in law, Charlene Futch of Valdosta, Connie and Marvin Murphy and Elisa Shivers all of Nashville; four brothers, George Shivers of North Carolina, Joseph Shivers of West Pal Beach, FL, Carroll Shivers of South Carolina, Ronnie Shivers of Perry; two sisters, Margaret Woods of Tifton, Jean Golden of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Robin Alfred, Carrie Futch, Howard Futch, Adam Murphy, Mathew Dampier, four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Shivers and a grandson, Josh Murphy. The family honored his request to be cremated; and no formal service was held.
