Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, with the Rev. Ronnie Lawson and the Rev. Willie Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Long Bridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today at Lovein Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 tonight. Born Aug. 17, 1930, in Berrien County, Mr. Simmons was the son of Shafter Daniel Simmons and Myrtice Eula Moore, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Simmons, and two brothers, Max Simmons and James Simmons. Mr. Simmons was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was retired from Nashville Mills and Chaparral Boats. He was also a mechanic who loved working on foreign cars and hot rods. He attended Nashville Church of God. Mr. Simmons is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Daniel Hillhouse, Sonja Bonham, Sheila White and Amanda and Russell Vickers, all of Nashville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Earl Wayne and Rhonda Simmons and Jimmy Simmons, all of Nashville; two sisters, Estelle Tripp of Sanford, N.C., and Elizabeth Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Don Simmons of Nashville; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
