Born October 3, 1911 in Berrien County to the late Johnny and Fannie Harrell Kent, she was a homemaker and member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Amos Singletary. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Wylene and J.S. Skinner of Nashville; four sisters, Evelyn Beard of Norfolk, VA, Selma Crandell of Byron, Ruth Underwood of Sylva, NC, Marjorie Hutchinson of Bainbridge; two brothers, Howard Kent of Nashville and J.M. Kent of Lakeland; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held July 18 at 10 a.m. at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Junior Swain and Donnie Sloan officiating. Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Clanton, Curtis Clanton, David Clanton, Brian Clanton, Jason Stanfill, Ronnie Harris. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
