Born October 4, 1940 in Berrien County to the late Thomas and Willa Mae Wheeler Stone, she was a homemaker and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was married to the late J.M. Sapp and the late Roscoe Smith. Survivors include one son, Perry Sapp of Enigma; three daughters, Juanita Sapp of Tampa, FL, Jeannie Sapp of Willacoochee, Tammy Buggay of Ambrose; five step- sons, W.M. Smith, Robert Smith and L.G. Smith all of Pearson, R.C. Smith of Fitzgerald, Joey Smith of Daytona Beach, FL; one step-daughter, Louise Harrell of Lakeland, FL; four brothers, Johnny Welch and Sam Welch, both of Nashville, Buddy Cowart of Thomasville, Melvin Colbin of Bainbridge; one sister, Nancy Sherriff of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 8 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Spikes officiating. Musical selections included "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "Precious Memories" by Greg Shoupe, accompanied by Robert Gaskins on the guitar. Tammy Exum served as pianist. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Active pallbearers were James Covin, Jessie King, Steven Covin, Steve Buggay, Jr., James Ashworth and William Jones. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson was in charge of arrangements.
