Smith, 64, of Jacksonville, FL died July 14, 2010, after a v valiant battle with cancer. Known to many as "Juner," he was born and raised in Jacksonville and graduated from Ribault High School in 1965. He became a well-known chiropractor in the Jacksonville area after graduation from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa in 1969. He held all offices in the local professional organization, the Northeast Florida Chiropractic Society, and was elected to represent the Jacksonville area on the Board of Directors of the Florida Chiropractic Association (FCA). He held all offices in the FCA, the largest state association in the chiropractic profession, and led as its president in 1993-94. Following a decade of service on the association board, he was later app appointed by the Governor of Florida to serve two terms on the Florida Board of Chi Chiropractic Medicine, where he became its chairman. He served his profession as as he served his patients, with warmth and wisdom. His impact was profound and he he is cherished and respected. Survivors include his mother, Margie Smith, brother, Jerry Smith and Sister, Ja Janie all of Alapaha; special friend, Sandy Smith. He was preceded in death by hi his father, Paulk Smith of Alapaha. No formal service was held. Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel in Jacksonville was in charge of arrangements.
