He was born June 15, 1937, in George Anna, AL, to the late Guy Moore and Ethel Louise Till Spann. He was owner of Speciality Converting & Supply Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. He played football for Troy State University and South Georgia College where he was a part of Coach Bobby Bowden’s first team. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1962 and was 5th in the Class of Engineering. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Spann, who died in 2004, a sister, Joy Paige, and two brothers, Babe Spann and Leo Spann. He is survived by his daughter, Vickey (Jonney) Warren of Nashville; son, Guy Spann and Bridgett Tillman of Nashville; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Watson, Lyndsay Watson, Courtney Harper and Colby Spann; two great- grandchildren, Kate and Joel Watson; brother, Greely Spann of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held April 11 at 2 p.m. at Nashville Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Stan Stalvey and Will Cook officiating. Memorials may be made to Langdale Hospice House.
