ALAPAHA -- Frances Spikes, 85, Alapaha, died on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at her 
residence. She was born on Feb. 10, 1919, to John Garren and Trecy Goodwin in 
Irwin County. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of 
Latter Day Saints. She was the widow of William Henry Spikes, who died on Dec. 
8, 1996.

 She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Purvis Benson of Alapaha, 
Katherine Moore and Bernice Wilkerson, both of Nashville; five sons, William H. 
Spikes Jr. of Douglas, Walter Spikes of Nashville, Winston Spikes of Ocilla, 
Tommy Spikes of Nashville, Teddy Spikes of Enigma; 20 grandchildren, 16 great 
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two 
sons, Carroll and Wendell Spikes.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the 
Lovein Funeral Home with S.G. Solomon, Jr. and Charles king officiating. 
Musical selections included "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Will the Circle 
Be Unbroken," and "Abide With Me." Burial will be at the Willacoochee City 
Cemetery. Visitation is today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. 
at Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.

 Pallbearers were grandsons, Craig Purvis, Mark Spikes, Michael Purvis, Bill 
Spikes, Carroll Spikes, Jr., Garren Wilkerson, Michael Spikes, Jon Spikes, 
Barry Wilkerson, Teddy Spikes, Jr.

 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
