He was born March 10, 1929 in Atkinson County to the late Ebb and Alice Jewell Spikes. He retired from Chaparral Boats as a fiberglass fabricator. He was a member and elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nashville. He was also an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Hayes, Grace Rowland, Louise Griner and Eula Mae Jefferson and b brother, Henry Spikes. Survivors include his wife, Jennie Luke Spikes of Alapaha; son, Derrell (Vicki) Spikes of TyTy; daughter, Phyllis (Gerald) Miller of TyTy; three grandchildren, Dr. Derron (Candace) Spikes of Tifton, Damon (Mary) Spikes of Tifton and Leanna (Mitch) Hickman of Savannah; sister, Lillian Moore of Nashville; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Madison, Callie, Olivia, Lauren, Gab Gabby and Christopher. Funeral services will be held September 28 at 11 a.m. at the Nashville Church of of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Andy Solomon officiating. Interment will be in Tift memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers include Gerald Miller, Mitch Hickman, Dr. Derron Spikes, Da Damon Spikes, Walter Spikes, Tommy Spikes. Honorary pallbearers include Charges Lott, Teddy Spikes, Jerry Morrell, Albert B Burns, Junior Folds, Don Wilkerson. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
