 The Berrien Press -- Lorena Hemmings Spires, 93, of Camden, SC died Sept. 23, 
2007.
 On March 19, 1914, Lorena Bell Hemmings was born in Mt. Airy, NC to Robert 
Dudley and Fannie Frances Callahan Hemmings. She was married in 1930 to O'Dell 
Spires of Nashville.
 Their children are Loyd Columbus (Mary) Spires of Laplata, MD, Robert 
Franklin Spires, Betty Spires (Jak) Smryl of Camden, Earl Jackson Spires of 
Perry and Ray O'Dell (Jean) Spires of Powder Springs. She was predeceased by 
her husband, Odell; sons, Robert Franklin and Loyd Columbus. Her grandchildren 
are Diane Spires (Jack) Dade of Colonial Beach, VA, Patricia Spires Jordan of 
Dawsonville, Morgan Spires of Savannah, Robert (Sheila) Spires of Warner 
Robins, Terry (Kathy) Norris of Kennesaw and Gwen (Richard) Godfry of 
Douglasville; great-grandchildren, Kenneth (Heather) Murphy, John (Jessica) 
Murphy and Jaden Spires; great-great grandchildren, Kendall, Camden, Aubrey, 
Abigail, Reid and Grant Murphy. Her surviving siblings are Pansy H. Stoghill 
of Warner Robins, Vera H. Harrell of Eatonton and Robert W. (Lila) Hemmings of 
Albany. She is also predeceased by sisters, Daisy H. Lemons, Pearl H. Griner, 
Susie H. Knowles, and Nannie H. Jefferson and brother, Rossie Hemmings.
 A graveside service was held at Westview Cemetery, Nashville, September 26 at 
4 p.m. conducted Rev. Chris Newbern, her nephew of Adel.
  "Good-by for now, Mother, Mama, Mom, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-
great-grandmother, Sunshine, Mr. Lorena, Mrs. Spires. We look forward to 
seeing your lovely smile again.
