He was born on March 22, 1922, in Berrien County to Need and Matilda Brogdon Stone. He was retired with the Georgia Department of Transportation; Army veteran of WWII and was a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Plymel Stone who died in 2001. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Stone; sister, Fannie Bell Deese; two infant daughters and two grandchildren, Alfred Stone Jr. and Paula Stone. Mr. Stone is survived by one daughter and son in law, Madine (Robert) Swanson of Nashville; three sons and daughters in law, Duell (Mary) Stone, Macon, Alfred (Francie) Stone, Tampa, FL, the Rev. Freddie (Mary) Stone, Nashville; nine grandchildren, Sheila (Greg) Duskin, Steve (Stephanie) Jones, Teresa Chapman, Lisa (Charlie) Taylor, Mike (Andrea) Stone, Kenneth (Tommie Ann) Stone, Keith (Cheryl) Stone, Trina Stone, Timothy Stone, 11 great- grandchildren, Jake and Zach Dustin; Bryson and Eric Jones, Carl and Julia Walker, Chuck , Daniel and Leslie Taylor, Emilee Stone, Michael Stone, four step grandchildren, Rebecca Kapusta, Kathi Wiitanen, Frank Swanson, Robin Mullis; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Brandon Swanson, Nicole, Brittany, David Mullis, Jud and Josh Lott; brother in law, Bobby (Vernelle) Plymel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 5, 2003 in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Swain officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
