He was born September 20, 1936, in Berrien County to the late Marcus and Cora Lee McMillan Stone. He was a forklift mechanic for Proctor and Gamble and the Carlton Company and was also self-employed as Jim Forklift Service for 10 years. He was also owner of Dean's BBQ in Nashville. He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Bible Truth Tabernacle in Tifton. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Laverne Stone, Billy Joe Stone, and Leroy Stone. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Harrell Stone of Willacoochee; two daughters, Geraldine (Steve) Strickland of Moultrie and Debbie (Junior) Stone of Willacoochee; son, Harold (Debra L.) Stone of Nashville; two sisters, Betty Godwin of Sylvester and Elizabeth Gray of Sylvester; two brothers, Malcolm Stone of Nashville and Jesse Stone of Nashville; seven grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. The family has honored his request for cremation. A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 20 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Watson officiating.
