Mr. Stone had been in declining health a number of years. The 71-year-old resident of 524 s. Jefferson Street was the son of W.R. and Vienna Faircloth Stone of Berrien County. He was a retired farmer and a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec 5, 2 p.m. at Long Bridge Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Hazen and the Rev. Frank McDaniel officiating. Internment was in Long Bridge Cemetery. The Shiloh Singers of Hahira sang three songs, “The Lights of Home,” “The Eastern Gates” and “The Last Mile of the Way”. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mandolin Dillard of Columbus and Mrs. Nadine Guess of Jacksonville, Fla; three sons, Damon Stone of Hahira, Chastain Stone U.S. Navy, Persian Gulf, and Dewayne Stone of Jacksonville Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Brock and Miss Georgia Ann Stone of Nashville, Georgia and Mrs. Mae Cannon of Macon, Georgia; and two brothers, Moses Stone of Nashville, Georgia and Noah Stone of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were John P. Webb, Sam Atkins, Leon Levin, A,.J.Dorminey, Willard Hendley, and George Hughes. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
