Born March 31, 1942 in Coffee County to the late Holman Harges and Elizabeth Taylor Strickland, he retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 20 years. He was a member of the National Cherokee Nation, National Rifle Association and National Fishermen Association. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lillie Mae Strickland. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Strickland of Berrien County, two daughters and one son-in-law, Yevette and Alan Milton of Ray City and Alisa Harper of Willacoochee; one son and daughter-in-law, Marsha and John Paul Strickland II, of Ray City, one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean and Richard Fish of Eastman; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Amos Richard and Loise Stevens and Ronald and Deloris Stevens, all of Ohio, Jackson and Asha Stevens of Netherlands. A memorial service will be held April 17 at 10 a.m. in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with John Jacobs officiating. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
