She was the oldest of 11 children. She will be remembered for her tireless efforts as a caregiver to her siblings, her children and her grandchildren. She was very civic-minded, loved to entertain, and was a faithful employee of Belks for 23 years. Among the other things she will be remembered for are her creativity, here feistiness, and her sharp-witted dry sense of humor. After "fighting the good fight," she went to be with her "Friend" Jesus on Feb. 12, 2010, at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, FL. She was 82. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Kenneth "Ken" Strickland, and her son, Alan Lee Strickland. Survivors include her daughters and sons witted dry sense of humor. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie Ann and Mark Wiram of Boulder, CO and Debbie and Andy Anderson of High Springs, FL; son and daughter-in in-law, Robert Jon and Nisha Strickland of Eugene, OR; eight grandchildren; seve seven sisters, Margie McMahan, Delvie Kitterman, Jodie Walters, Jane Liberman, Bren Brenda Miller, Pam Renforth, Donna Jaco; brother, Michael Peak. Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Hom Home with the Rev. David Akins officiating. Appropriate music was provided. Interment was in Old City Cemetery. Selected family members served as pallbearers. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
